The Visit

Who’s in it?
Kathryn Hahn, Deanna Dunagan, Peter McRobbie, Ed Oxenbould

What’s it about?
“The terrifying story of a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a weeklong trip. Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day.” – Rotten Tomatoes

Nate’s Two Cents?
It’s been a long time since I have enjoyed something M. Night has directed, but finally the time has come. This isn’t a perfect movie but it sure is a step in the right direction compared to the more recent works from M. Night. I highly recommend checking this out! Love 3D

Who’s in it?
Karl Glusman, Aomi Muyock, Klara Kristin

What’s it about?
“Enter the Void director Gaspar Noe helms this 3D envelope-pushing, non-linear narrative examining modern love and sexual desires.” – Rotten Tomatoes

Nate’s Two Cents?
Love is a film that is not for everyone. It’s awkward and has uncomfortable sexual situations not suitable for most family time sit downs. If you are a fan of Noe then you sort of know what to expect from this movie based on the title alone. That being said, this was still probably my least favorite of his films to date. If you’re looking for some artsy porn then give this one a whirl, its at least got that much going for it.

Sicario

Who’s in it?
Emily Blunt, Jon Bernthal, Josh Brolin, Benicio Del Toro, Jeffrey Donovan

What’s it about?
“In the lawless border area stretching between the U.S. and Mexico, an idealistic FBI agent [Emily Blunt] is enlisted by an elite government task force official [Josh Brolin] to aid in the escalating war against drugs. Led by an enigmatic consultant with a questionable past [Benicio Del Toro], the team sets out on a clandestine journey forcing Kate to question everything that she believes in order to survive.” – Lionsgate

Nate’s Two Cents?
This film ended up being one of my favorite films of 2015. The visuals in the movie are absolutely gorgeous. The movie is tense and accompanied by a score that is out of this world and will have you on the edge of your seat. It’s still shocking this movie didn’t really make that much profit, but at least it was in the positive and not a flop. Give it a watch this week.

Making a Murderer

What’s it about?
“Filmed over a 10-year period, Making a Murderer is an unprecedented real-life thriller about a DNA exoneree who, while in the midst of exposing corruption in local law enforcement, finds himself the prime suspect in a grisly new crime. Set in America’s heartland, the series takes viewers inside a high-stakes criminal case where reputation is everything and things are never as they appear.” – Rotten Tomatoes

Nate’s Two Cents?
An absolutely captivating true crime documentary from start to finish. Watch this as soon as you have the time, you won’t be able to stop watching until it’s over. If things like the Serial podcast tickle your fancy then this documentary will be right up your alley!
