saw-10-year

You guys! I’m excited about this for no reason! I really like the Saw franchise for what it is and I think it would be fun to catch in theaters again. Maybe I can include it in my James Wan-a-thon viewings this October. [‘Saw’ to Return to Theaters for 10th Anniversary]

I feel like I’m always talking about horror-related TV shows in The Gore Report rather than movies but what do you want from me? I don’t make the news I just write about it! Anyway, I can hardly muster enough excitement to write about the fact that Lifetime is making another shitty TV series, let alone plan to watch it. [Lifetime Orders ‘The Omen’ TV Series ‘Damien’]

Next to Anthony Bordain, Tom Savini has one of the coolest jobs on earth. Now it looks like fans of the special FX artist can look forward to learning a bit more about the man’s backstory with the new documentary. [Ohhh, Look…First Clip from ‘Smoke and Mirrors: The Story of Tom Savini’]

trailers

Stephen King’s A Good Marriage

Director: Peter Askin / Stars: Joan Allen, Anthony LaPaglia, Kristen Connolly, Stephen Lang

Speaking of Lifetime…. Okay, maybe this doesn’t look basic cable bad but it doesn’t strike me as anything remarkable either. Finding out your significant other is not who you think they are is a good place to start I’m just not entirely confident the film will do anything new with that conceit.

The Strange Color of Your Body’s Tears

Director: Hélène Cattet, Bruno Forzani / Stars: Klaus Tange, Ursula Bedena, Joe Koener

This looks wild. It certainly lives up to its description of “homage to the masters of classic Italian Giallo horror” as well as “erotic thriller.” I truly have no idea what is actually happening in the trailer or what the plot might be but I’m intrigued enough to put it on my radar.

Tusk

Director: Kevin Smith / Stars: Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment, Genesis Rodriguez, Michael Parks

Well this looks a lot different than I expected. I imagined this to be more in line with the actual story it’s based on but instead it looks a little more Human Centipede than anything else. The tonal shifts in the trailer are really jarring but I’m willing to keep an open mind because of Smith’s very solid Red State.

The Guest

Director: Adam Wingard / Stars: Dan Stevens, Maika Monroe, Brendan Meyer, Sheila Kelley, Leland Orser, Lance Reddick, Chase Williamson

Again, very interested but not really what I was expecting to see from Adam Wingard. Stylistically, this flick looks much different than his previous films (You’re Next, A Horrible Way to Die) but not at all in a bad way. I’m holding out for this one to surprise me.

Annabell

Director: John Leonetti / Stars: Annabelle Wallis, Alfre Woodard, Tony Amendola, Eric Ladin, Brian Howe

I guess we don’t need James Wan to continue the fun from The Conjuring. Annabell is of course, the creepy doll from that movie so naturally she got her own spin off. I like this trailer a lot and I think it could really work out. Crossing my fingers for some above average mainstream horror!
