As a beer lover, I often find myself selecting out a brew to fit my mood. And as a movie lover, most of the time the two go hand in hand. So I decided to share some pairings of film and beer that I think go great together. Take a look at my pick of the month and hopefully you will enjoy it.

pangaea

Dogfish Head brews Pangaea with an ingredient from each continent. The beer contains crystallized ginger from Australia, Basmati rice from Asia, muscavado sugar from Africa, quinoa from South America, European yeast, maize from North American, and water from Antarctica. It’s a Belgian-style Pale Ale, but due to the rice, corn, and quinoa it has a different flavor than other Belgian-style Pale Ales. This makes the beer very unique beyond the fact that it includes ingredients from every continent.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Raiders of the Lost Ark stars Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, an archaeologist and a college professor. Raiders is the first in a series of movies following Indiana Jones as he travels around the world getting into adventures. In this first movie, Indy is in search of the Lost Ark, a mythological item that the Nazis are attempting to uncover because they believe it will increase the power of their army. Indiana Jones is trying to prevent the Nazis from finding it first and utilizing its power.

Indiana Jones searches all over the world for mysterious artifacts. Dogfish Head have searched all over the world for ingredients to make beer. You can feel like an adventurer without leaving your couch by enjoying these two together. Dogfish Head’s Pangaea may be a little gimmicky, but it is a good beer. Most of the ingredients add a subtle flavor so drinking the whole bottle on your own won’t be a challenge. Pangaea may be hard to come by, but you can feel like Indy while you’re searching for a bottle.
