walk Here to take a look at the films coming out in wide and limited release this coming weekend. I’ll give you my thoughts to help you decide what’s worth checking out.

  wide

  • The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – I’m not exactly the right person to ask about this one since I never got around to seeing the first. I love Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, I just would rather watch them in much different films. The trailer for this actually does look pretty good though. It at least has me feeling a little more interested in this new Spider-Man franchise. It might just be because Dane DeHaan co-starring in this one, though.

  • Walk of Shame – This comedy follows Elizabeth Banks as a news anchor that has to get to her job interview after having a crazy night out. It’s not that original of a concept, and the trailer doesn’t offer too much. I can totally see her getting to the interview looking a hot mess and then still end up getting the job – it’s been done so many times before. But I freaking love Banks and James Marsden, not to mention Gillian Jacobs! It would probably be worth at least checking out home as long as the reviews aren’t trash.
Available through Video on Demand and see where it’s playing in theaters here.
  • The Sacrament – Ti West’s latest movie features those indie horror regulars Joe Swanberg, AJ Bowen, and Amy Seimetz (all seen in You’re Next amongst others). It’s a found footage horror film with the premise of a Vice documentary film crew doing a story on a commune called Eden Parish, which ends up being much more like a cult with a Jim Jones type leader. I loved The House of the Devil and thought The Innkeepers was mostly good if not forgettable. This Ti West movie looks like it has much more action, but I hope he can channel his style into his best horror movie yet. Based on record alone, I have to give this a watch and I hope it’s great.
Available through Video on Demand before it hits theaters June 6.
