As a beer lover, I often find myself selecting out a brew to fit my mood. And as a movie lover, most of the time the two go hand in hand. So I decided to share some pairings of film and beer that I think go great together. Take a look at my pick of the month and hopefully you will enjoy it.

Curmudgeon-Old-Ale-Hero

Old Curmudgeon is a well received beer from Founder’s Brewery. It’s an Old Ale, which means that Founder’s brews the beer then they let it age in oak barrels before bottling it. This gives the beer a very rich malt flavor that tastes like it would be at home in a port town. The brewing process involves molasses that offers some sweetness, but only enough to complement what is already given to the beer by the malt. It’s pretty high ABV at 9.8% so it is perfect for when it’s chilly outside.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a film about a man, played by Brad Pitt, who is born with the appearance of an elderly man who becomes younger as he gets older. As he gets older in years, he becomes more capable due to his reverse aging and begins to live an almost normal life for some time before age starts to affect him in a way differently than everyone else. The movie has a very original plot and is directed wonderfully by David Fincher.

Old Curmudgeon is an Old Ale style beer. So essentially, as soon as you buy this beer it is already old. Likewise, Benjamin Button already is old when he is born. Also, Benjamin spends some time out on sea during the film. You could imagine Button and his follow seamen drinking a few beers of this nature when you drink Old Curmudgeon because of the heartiness of the ale. You know, as long as there aren’t any issues with his the bartender questioning his age.
