As of this month we’re three years from electing a new president. Spoiler alert – whatever party you belong to, you’ll probably eventually end up disappointed by whomever we vote in. But don’t feel bad…how could we be satisfied when we’ve created so many amazing movie presidents? Let’s take a look at five of the most awesome fictional commanders in chief.

MC2-DF-13194.CR2
President Rathcock played by Charlie Sheen in Machete Kills
Rathcock made an appearance in this year’s Machete Kills. He’s the President of the United fuckin’ States of America, man! He sleeps next to three women at once and legalized marijuana. And he knows machete wielding killers when he sees them. Rathcock sends Machete (Danny Trejo) into Mexico to save the day. And then outer space. He’s the president…he can do that.

american- president-michael-douglas
President Andrew Shepherd played by Michael Douglas in The American President
President Shepherd, aka the sexiest fictional president according to your mom, is just trying to get re-elected when along comes beautiful lobbyist Sydney Ellen Wade (Annette Bening). Sparks fly! If wooing Wade wasn’t enough, Shepherd has to tangle with a nasty senator (Richard Dreyfuss) out for the presidency.

bill-pullman-independance-day
President Thomas J. Whitmore played by Bill Pullman in Independence Day
All you need to know about President Whitmore is that he gives the best speech ever. That’s it. Wait, he’s also a pretty good fighter pilot. Double threat! He uses both skills to help stop a deadly alien invasion. I for one hope he pops up in the Independence Day sequels. But will he top this speech?

Idiocracy-terry-cruz
President Hector Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho played by Terry Crews in Idiocracy
A porn star and five-time Ultimate Smackdown wrestling champion, President Camacho knows shit is bad right now with all that starving bullshit. Dust storms and the lack of burrito coverings and what not. That’s what makes him a great leader. Anyone who appoints someone named “Not Sure” (Luke Wilson) to be Secretary of the Interior has to be smart.

air-force-one-movie
President James Marshall played by Harrison Ford in Air Force One
By far my favorite fictional president, Marshall is an awesome commander in chief. When terrorists take over Air Force One he kicks piles of assand pretty much singlehandedly retakes the plane before throwing Gary Oldman’s character out the cargo doors. Stay off his plane, terrorists!
