acodHere to take a look at the films coming out in wide and limited release this coming weekend. I’ll give you my thoughts to help you decide what’s worth checking out.

wide

  • Gravity – I’ve seen this one and believe the hype people, this is fantastic. It’s a cinematic feast for your eyes and a complete pulse racer. Go see it and check out our review this Friday!
  • Runner Runner – This movie looks like it could be a little bit of a hit or a spectacular miss. I’m worried it will be the latter. First, I’m incredibly bothered by the fact that Justin Timberlake is playing a college student. They better explain that shit away because dude definitely looks like he’s in his thirties so if I am expected to believe he is a naive guy in his early twenties I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get that out of my mind. Second, the trailer just doesn’t really do a great job getting across the gist of this movie. It just looks a little bizarre (crazy world of online gambling – whaaat) and I don’t get the thrill. We’ll have a review up Friday to see if this can beat out my low expectations.

limited

  • A.C.O.D. – I think this looks so good! I adore Adam Scott, so anytime he gets something to lead I am all for that. Then you add in Catherine O’Hara, freaking Richard Jenkins, Jane Lynch, Clark Duke, and a refreshingly interesting looking Jessica Alba and it seems like a stellar cast. I like the concept of Scott’s character realizing he was once part of a study and it seems like a fresh coming-of-middle-ish-age story.

  • Bad Milo! – I love that Adam Scott & Ken Marino have projects coming out the same weekend and they both look good. This one is crazy different than A.C.O.D with a creepy creature popping out of Marino. There seems to be a lot of what the fuck going on in this movie and if it turns out as funny as the trailer it could be weird and awesome.
