Maybe you’re looking to save a few bucks or the current theater choices just aren’t cutting it. Whatever the case may be, sometimes it’s just as nice to sit at home and watch a good flick. Take a look at this week’s picks for some At-Home Alternatives to the weekly cinema options.

Instead of Pacific Rim: Transformers
So far, I’m hearing pretty good things about Pacific Rim, even though Lindsay felt a little let down (you can read her review here). If you can’t make it to the movies for this summer action yarn, stay home and watch the first (and best) Transformers movie. Look guys, I tried really hard to find an alternative that wasn’t so literal but this Transformers fits the bill perfectly. Both films have awesome special effects, spectacular action scenes, and a dash of comedy.

Instead of Grown Ups 2, watch :Wild Hogs
It’s pretty obvious that Grown Ups was Sandler’s most popular movie in the last several years, and by popular I mean a half step above tolerable. I’m certain that audiences will see more of the same with the sequel, so stay home and watch Wild Hogs. I really think Wild Hogs gets a bum rap; this movie really makes me laugh. Both films star four friend still trying to get back the life they led when they were younger.

Evil Dead
I really wanted to catch this one in theaters, so I stoked this is finally on Blu-ray. The original Evil Dead is iconic, so any remake is looked upon with immediate disdain. However, thinking back to the theatrical release of the remake, I didn’t hear too many grumbles from the horror-watching public so I’m totally here for this release.

Alphas
Alphas (2011)
Two fun facts: Apparently, the Sony PlayStation 3 is the most commonly used device to access Netflix. And secondly, the PS3’s version of Netflix has this cool feature/game called Max to help you find a movie. So I put Max to the test to find out what my pick of the week should be and it gave me the Television Series Alphas, based on my taste for sci-fi/supernatural television. You should check it out too.

Alphas Netflix Synopsis: A team of individuals gifted with extraordinary neurological abilities is tasked with solving a series of high-profile crimes. Among them are an autistic man whose mind works as fast as a computer and an FBI agent with super strength.

What do you plan on watching this week, at home or otherwise? What do you think of my choices?
