Maybe you’re looking to save a few bucks or the current theater choices just aren’t cutting it. Whatever the case may be, sometimes it’s just as nice to sit at home and watch a good flick. Take a look at this week’s picks for some At-Home Alternatives to the weekly cinema options.

Instead of Identity Thief: Due Date
I feel like Due Date is similar to Identity Thief. Both are road trip movies. Both have the straight man (Downey Jr., Bateman) with dead pan delivery that combines with physical comedy and outright goofiness (Galifanakis, McCarthy) mixed into a story about two different people who realize at the end of the day, are kinda similar. Due Date felt more like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, whereas Identity Thief has been promoted like Horrible Bosses. I liked Due Date. It was fun, had a few laughs, and made me feel good about myself. That last part was a lie.

Instead of Side Effects: Contagion
A solid film by Soderbergh stuffed to the brim with a cast of who’s who about a spreading epidemic and how it effects the lives of everyone from the activist, to the CDC doctors, to scientists, to the every day family. It was smooth, looked gorgeous, and really made me want to wash my hands. You can expect this same amount of quality writing, acting, and cinematography in Side Effects, but if you can’t make it to the cinemas or you just don’t feel like it, Contagion is well worth the watch.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE and BRADLEY COOPER star in SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK
Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
Do I need to explain this? I loved the movie, FTS, for the most part, loved the movie and you will too. Award-winning and award-worthy performances by Jenny Law-Law, Bradley Cooper, and newcomer Robert DeNiro remind us that if you’ve got mental health issues and are really good looking, you might do well at a dance contest. Wait… no… sorry, the performances show us that deep down, no matter what kind of crazy you’ve got going on, we’ve all got a Silver Lining.

Breaking Bad (2008)

I recently got back into/reintroduced myself to the show after a few years. It’s blowing up and everybody is talking about it now and I want to be apart of the conversation. You’ve got from now until July 14 to get caught up (loads of time) but you might want to do it sooner rather than later because when those promos start rolling, I bet you they’ll have minor spoiler-ish information. THAT, and you don’t want to overhear somebody ruining it for you cause then you gotta kick their ass and the whole moral dilemma comes into play because it’s a girl that said it and do you just yell at her gratuitously or do you give a quick shot across the mouth, I mean what do you do? Nobody wants to be in that situation. So fire up whatever devices you watch Netflix on, and start watching!

Breaking Bad Netflix Synopsis: Emmy winner Bryan Cranston stars as Walter White, a high school science teacher who learns that he has terminal lung cancer and teams with a former student to manufacture and sell high-quality crystal meth to secure his family’s future.

What do you plan on watching this week, at home or otherwise? What do you think of my choices?
