Like a lot of other film fans, I have a love/hate relationship with the Oscars. Sometimes the Academy picks my favorites or choices I find the most deserving, and other times they completely confound me. I like to debate them though, and would love to actually blog more about the race. I feel like I’m always short on time, so I rely on all the other movie blogs out there to give me their best speculation and updates. Here are five blogs I follow (and so should you) to get the scoop on all the awards coverage.
Never Too Early Movie Predictions
NTEMP’s site tagline is “Quite possibly the earliest Oscar predictions on the web. Predictions are currently being made through 2017!” It’s pretty spot on considering the blog runs year round predictions and speculation on the Oscars. If you’re new to the site, there are loads of posts to go through that cover such an extensive amount of info it’s totally bonkers (in a great way!) The site has weekly updates, reviews and even an Oscars calendar that is frequently updated. Lots to see and read and perfect for awards nuts.
Film Actually
My boy over at Film Actually runs an amazing blog with various types of features and reviews. With award season beginning, FA is covering the buzz all the way up until the ceremony. The series can be seen under the heading Oscars Watch as well as posts for films with “For Your Consideration.”
Cinematic Paradox
This mult-faceted blog is also doing some seasonal awards coverage and a themed blogathon. All of the awards talk can be found under the heading “Annual Awards Nerdism” and discusses anything and everything awards related. The blogathon event is called “Making a Case” where other bloggers submit their articles for various movies or actors of whatever that they feel should be nominated for an Oscar, but most likely won’t be. That event should yield some awesome posts from all over the web, so be sure to keep your peepers peeled.
Encore’s World of Film & TV
Blogging powerhouse Andrew of Encore Entertainment is always producing insightful commentary and his Academy Awards related coverage is no exception. You can find his related posts under the label ‘Incoherent 2012 Oscars’ even though it’s a bit different from what he went through the year prior. This year, Andrew promises that “In lieu of predictions, I still have a slew of other, albeit obliquely, Oscar related thoughts to liberate.” I can’t wait!
The Golden Knight
Here you will find the granddaddy of all Oscars coverage. Besides all the usual news and opinion, TGK offers countdowns, predictions, nominees and so much more. It’s the site that will help you follow the awards season climate the closest, so if you need to get your head in the game, there’s no better place to start.
