Just a little biweekly poll here at FTS, just a little question of This or That? What do you prefer and why? You can take any reasoning you want but you must chose one over the other. The poll can also be found on the sidebar of the blog page.
In the last This or That poll, voters chose Julianne Moore over Marisa Tomei in an 11-4 vote. I’m sure Moore’s varied and accomplished film career had a lot to do with it. The new match-up:
Magnolia (1999)
OR
Boogie Nights (1997)
Boogie Nights (1997)
VOTE NOW!
This or That?
This or That? Magnolia or Boogie Nights
- Boogie Nights (62%, 8 Votes)
- Magnolia (38%, 5 Votes)
Total Voters: 13

It’s Magnolia all the way for me.
I think Boogie Nights is a very good movie, but I don’t connect as much with the characters. Also, its final act isn’t as strong as its first hour. On the other hand, Magnolia is one of my favorite movies and doesn’t feel long even though it runs for nearly three hours. It’s still my favorite PT Anderson movie and holds up really well on repeat viewings.
Boogie Nights, if only because I can’t even count how many times I’ve seen it.
Tough, tough call. Both are near perfect in my eyes, but I’m giving Boogie Nights the slight edge.
Wow, This is a tough won because I love both movies very much. Will have to to give praise to Magnolia because I like the acting more in that one
Magnolia is my favorite PTA film by a decent margin, so easy choice. (Also, Magnolia is 1999 – after Boogie Nights, not before it.)
WHOOPS! Thank’s for that, corrected.
Boogie Boogie Boogie. All day.
This was tough but I went with Boogie Nights. It might be because I’ve seen it way more times than Magnolia, though. Both are fantastic films.
