Although the trailer for The Hole didn’t impress me all that much, I’m still intrigued because of Joe Dante’s involvement. He recently did an interview with Bloody Disgusting and talked about the film as well as some of his other projects including Trailers From Hell and Gremlins. Be sure to read the interview with Joe Dante.

Hold the phone, there’s a horror remake in the works? Well hot damn, that’s becoming something incredibly routine for me to report. The most recent remake forming is an odd one, the 1962 Bette Davis/Joan Crawford classic What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? Read the press release about the What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? remake by Walter Hill.

Tarantino’s my boy. Even though most of his films aren’t necessarily classified as horror, the guy knows what he’s doing when it comes to gore effects. If you’re a Kill Bill fan, you’ll love this gallery of amazing, gory set photos. See the high-res behind the scenes photos from Kill Bill.

I thought the upcoming horror film Sinister looked promising from it’s initial trailer I reviewed in a recent installment of The Gore Report, but the movie has a new trailer out that is downright chilling. Take a look and see for yourself the masterful trailer. Watch the red band trailer for Sinister.

HOLLOW Directed by Michael Axelgaard. Starring: Emily Plumtree, Sam Stockman, Jessica Ellerby, and Matt Stokoe.

Yes, this is another found footage style film. I like the mystery story surrounding the tree though and appreciate that the trailer didn’t offer solid answers or spoil anything. This movie also looks like it’s similar to a story like Paranormal Activity in all the right ways. Hopefully the movie will be able to maintain the suspense and chills as well as the trailer did.

HYPOTHERMIA Directed by James Felix McKenney . Starring: Michael Rooker, Blanche Baker and Greg Finley.

I kind of like this. I’m sort of a sucker for winter weather scares, I suspect because I’m not a fan of the cold. But there looks to be competent acting in the film and the under-the-ice element reminds me of Tremors. The only thing I’m not sold on is the creature effects and I could have done without that last shot in the trailer. If they want to take the ‘man in a rubber suit approach’ they might want to amp up the camp.

STOKER Directed by Chan-wook Park. Starring: Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman and Matthew Goode.

What a deliciously sinister story. Some top notch performances add a whole new layer to the already gorgeous trailer. Right from the start, I’m hooked with Kidman’s speech to her daughter. I’d be interested in seeing this for the cast and director alone but this trailer has me excited. Stylish, effective and creepy.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 Directed by Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman. Starring: Katie Featherston, Kathryn Newton and Matt Shively.

I believe I reviewed the teaser for this when it popped up but this is a full length trailer. As with most of the Paranormal Activity films, I don’t expect much of what was in the trailer to make it in the film. I do enjoy the series though, so of course this is required viewing. My only hope is that the filmmakers keep with the ongoing story and don’t stray away too far from their roots.

THE COLLECTION Directed by Marcus Dunstan. Starring: Josh Stewart, Christopher McDonald and Erin Way.

I’m surprised this is being made but not upset about it. I liked a lot about the first film The Collector so a sequel could work for me. I’m not in love with the trailer but I appreciate how ambitious it is. It seems like the filmmaker is ready to push a new Jigsaw on us and if so, consider my ears and mind open.

The Droid You’re Looking For wrote a really hilarious and relatable post about eating certain foods while watching different types of horror movies. There’s a lot of good advice throughout the piece. Read the ‘Rules for Eating Food While Watching Horror Movies’ @ The Droid You’re Looking For.

Chuck Norris Ate My Baby wrote a post that ‘defends’ Eli Roth’s Hostel Part 2 from some of the negative criticism it’s endured. I am also a fan of the film so I enjoyed reading his post about why he loves it too. Read the ‘Defense of Hostel: Part II’ @ Chuck Norris Ate My Baby.

Freddy In Space has a fun post up showing off some breakfast cereals with ‘monster’ artwork that was never produced. The art was put together by ad agency Dancer Fitzgerald and shows off 4 different characters. See ‘Unused Monster Cereals Concept Art’ @ Freddy In Space.

Strange Kids Club has a super awesome post up that is essentially a ’roundtable discussion’ among various bloggers deciding who they think “best represented the horror genre for the new millennium.” Read the ‘Roundtable Discussion: What Do You Think The De Facto Horror Icon Is For The New Millennium?’ @ Strange Kids Club.

The Athletic Nerd has a great post on his site that breaks down what he refers to as ‘The Paranormal Activity Experience.’ He talks about what will help or hinder your viewing as well as what makes the series compelling. Read about ‘The Paranormal Activity Experience’ @ The Athletic Nerd.

Halloween pitch animatic By: Federico D’Alessandro

This is why the internet is damn cool. Creative people sharing art. This is not really a short, but a ‘pitch anamatic’ from a filmmaker and Halloween fan that decided to put together a rough animation of his idea (at least for the opening) for a Halloween reboot. It’s fantastic the tension he brings to the clip even though it is an unpolished work. Even if a reboot isn’t in his future, I’m sure he will have plenty of success if he keeps up the passion.
