Umm, just getting the Dark Knight episode.
So sorry, I have been trying out this new system to automatically update but obviously it hasn’t been working.
It should be all fixed now!
Haha, I love that you think I’m so cultured.
Hi gals and guys,
I really enjoyed this episode. I was trying to come up with my own top three travel films while listening and was kicking myself for not thinking of “The Darjeeling Limited.” I probably would have had “Easy Rider” somewhere on my list. My number one would have definitely been “Two Lane Blacktop.” It’s about two guys – played by James Taylor and Denis Wilson – who own a hotrod. They’re traveling from California to the East Cost competing in races to fund the trip. No real names are given to the characters in the film. The two main dudes are known as The Mechanic and The Driver. Along the way they meet The Girl – played by Laurie Bird who is an amazing first time actress who met a tragic end – and GTO – played by Warren Oates who is one of the most underrated actors in the history of Hollywood – and things get compicated.
This movie is put out by the Criterion Collection if you’re into that (Nick!?).
I actually took a course in road movies in college which was awesome. I decided not include typical road movies on this list though. The GTO character in Two Lane Blacktop was my favorite part. He was such a strange guy. Laurie Bird was really great too. Thanks for listening!
