Here at FTS, we like to keep an eye on the up-and-coming actors and actresses that have impressed us recently. There are quite a few that we are looking forward to seeing how their careers unfold and develop. With a lot of talented young stars out there, it’s nice to celebrate those that give us hope for the future of Hollywood. We thought we would let you in on some of our favorites with our new five part series: 25 Talents Under 25. See who made our top five!

CHLOE GRACE MORETZ, 15
The Firestarter

Why We Like Her: A little role, playing Mindy McCreedy aka Hit Girl may have cemented our delight with this girl. Completely fearless, dropping C-bombs at the age of 12, etc, she committed to that role without a hint of trepidation. Moretz is awesome, and we can’t wait to see how this girl grows as an actress.

Next Project?: Movie 43 (2013), short comedy segments starring as many actors as New Years Eve, the difference being most are actually funny.

More Moretz:

OLIVIA THIRLBY, 25
The Thespian

Why We Like Her: Olivia may be best known for playing Ellen Page’s best friend in Juno but we happen to think she’s been highly underutilized so far in her career. While she hasn’t had her star-making role quite yet, she has years of acting school and training under her belt and starred in the off-broadway production of Farragut North (which was adapted to The Ides of March). Check her out in The Wackness and see why we await her turn in the spotlight.

Next Project?: You don’t have to wait long to see Thirlby’s next film. She appears in the new Dredd 3d this September.

More Thirlby:

ELLE FANNING, 14
The Natural

Why We Like Her: Apparently acting runs in the Fanning family. Elle Fanning, the little sister to Dakota, is making a name for herself in Hollywood with recent roles in We Bought a Zoo and Super 8. At only 14, she has an ability for acting far beyond her years. With her name already in lights, expect her to only get better from here.

Next Project?: Elle has a lot of fun stuff in the works but you can next see her in the period drama Ginger & Rosa.

More Elle:

ELLEN PAGE, 25
The Feisty Force

Why We Like Her: Ellen Page picks great roles. She first won awards for movies like Hard Candy and The Tracy Fragments that dealt with heavy topics like child molestation (and the revenge against it) and growing up in a city filled with low-lifes. She’s played roles in Juno (which earned her an Oscar nom for Best Actress), Whip It, and Super. All of these movies have dealt with some serious situations, but were also a lot of fun. In addition, Page is politically and environmentally conscience. She recently narrated a film dealing with the dwindling bee population.

Next Project?: Costarring with Alexander Skarsgård and Brit Marling in the 2012 mystery/drama The East.

More Page:

SAOIRSE RONAN, 18
The Future

Why We Like Her: Her legitimate talent is pretty astonishing. Since her Oscar nominated role as Kiera Knightley’s bitch of a little sister in Atonement she has turned in several commanding performances and shown incredible promise. I wouldn’t be surprised if her name is included on more Oscar ballots in the next decade of her career.

Next Project?: Byzantium (2012), a UK vampire flick with Gemma Arterton which has been flying under the radar so far this year.

  1. I’m lovin’ this list! What a wonderful selections. Reading their actual age makes me impressed more. Except Ellen Page, she don’t look like a 25 year old.

  2. YAY!! I LOVE that Saiorse Ronan is #1. She is BRILLIANT. I’ve seen her in 3 films so far and impressed with all of them. She’d be great as Mary Queen of Scots!

    • She is a truly remarkable actress for sure. I feel like she elevates anything she touches completely. Even with more divisive movies like The Lovely Bones people still give her constant praise.

  3. Olivia Thirlby is great in Snow Angels too. I’m surprised (in a good way) to see her this high. Saoirse Ronan was amazing in Hanna. Can’t argue with her at #1.
