The Hangover Part 2 (2011)

What’s It About?

IMDB says: Right after the bachelor party in Las Vegas, Phil, Stu, Alan, and Doug jet to Thailand for Stu’s wedding. Stu’s plan for a subdued pre-wedding brunch, however, goes seriously awry.

What We I Thought:
Lindsay: Hangover Part 2 puts everyone’s favorite Wolfpack back in the same ridiculous predicament you thought they couldn’t possibly be in again. Yes, due to the immense success of the first Hangover film, a sequel was born, using almost exactly the same premise as before. If you were a fan of the first Hangover film, if you quoted it endlessly and couldn’t stop singing Stu’s sad piano tiger song, you will love the sequel. It’s essentially The Hangover on crack.

I’ll start off my thoughts of the film by letting everyone know that I thought this film was pretty hilarious. I embraced the raunchy behavior of the three because they kept me laughing. I’m sure it also helped to watch the film in a jam packed theater, swarming with Hangover-lovers. But all laughs aside, it was indeed simply a carbon copy of the first installment. Any magic the first film presented with it’s mystery-ish plot is absent here. Everyone knows what situation is right around the corner, you’re just waiting to see how the film makers will make it more extreme.

For what the movie attempts to do, which I think is to satisfy the fans, it succeeds in maybe the best way it knew how. But the movie could of been a great film by itself if the writers had just tried a little harder. I don’t want to give away too many spoilers, so I will just say that the film could have easily deviated from the original story to give the viewer some of that magic back, but instead they took the easy way out and just mad-libbed the shit out of The Hangover’s script.
