Well it’s that time of year again, the summer movie blockbusters are almost upon us. I gotta say, I’m not very excited for what lies ahead this summer movie season but hopefully I will catch a few surprises. Here’s what’s in store for May.

Guide To Summer At The Cinema – May
May 6th
Jumping the Broom – Aww yeah, it’s wedding season. And if I was even remotely interested about anything wedding related I might watch Jumping the Broom. Unfortunately nothing else is drawing me in to this film here so I think it’s destined for the shelf.
Something Borrowed – Did I say wedding season? I meant shitty romantic comedy season. Kate Hudson needs to find a concept for a romantic comedy other than bridal woes and everyone else in this film ….well I get it, we all need to get paid.
Thor – I’m not a comic book aficionado so from a non-geek looking in Thor just looks like shallow eye candy. The leads are pretty and the action looks sufficient but I really haven’t seen any exciting in any of the trailers. Perhaps I’ll be surprised.

BridesmaidsI already had the privilege of catching a screening of Bridesmaids, so I will wait to divulge on that in the review.
Priest (in 3D)I suppose this looks fun in a I-don’t-feel-like-thinking-for-2-hours sort of way. I won’t be going out of my way to see this but I’m not 100% opposed to it either. So blahh this summer!

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (3D) – I am huge fan of the first in the Pirates franchise but I some how became detached from the sequels. I have seen the second film but missed out on the third. With a few main cast members out for the picture for Stranger Tides, I’m not sure what to expect. I may catch up with the trilogy before I give this film a go.

The Hangover Part II I really can’t see this film being better than the first one. It’s hard to go into a movie with the same premise – amped up and not think about it as anything more than a way to get my money. I’ll try to see this with an open mind and hopefully the laughs live up to the first film. ALSO: Pet peeve: it seems through the trailer that Justin Bartha’s character (the groom a.k.a. the retarded kid in Gigli) is once again not part of the crew. They could have at least thrown him a bone and let him join the wolf pack.
Kung Fu Panda 2 – I didn’t see Panda 1, looks like a cute film but I won’t be checking this out..
