I continue reviewing 2010 by noting some movies I unfortunately missed out on. Here’s my list of:

Here are 10 Movies I Still Need To See (from 2010):

10. Going the Distance

Even though this little romcom received mostly negative reviews, I found the trailer to be really endearing and funny. Drew Barrymore is not a favorite of mine but she has obvious chemistry with the lovable Justin Long. Further kudos for the likable supporting cast including Christina Applegate, Jim Gaffaigan, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day.

09. Morning Glory

My initial reaction to this movie was that it seemed to be just another Devil Wears Prada which I didn’t really enjoy at all. But after re-watching Rachel McAdams in some of her other work this year I came to the conclusion that I certainly enjoy her a lot more than I do Anne Hathaway. So I hope to have a sit down with Morning Glory one day soon.

08. Barry Munday

Barry Munday was a film that premiered at SXSW that I was initially excited to see. The plot slightly quirky and the trailer made me laugh out loud. Then I didn’t hear much about it after that. It just had a small limited release and then faded off my radar. I hope to get my hands on this film this year and check out Patrick Wilson in this off the wall, Mike Judge-esque comedy.

07. Catfish

I have made it a point not to read into this ambiguous flick too much. I have heard mixed things about it but refuse to look into what the big deal is about the movie. The trailer is perfect and hopefully doesn’t disappoint on excitement too much after the reveal. Is he crazy? Is she crazy? Does she exist? Is she a dude? I WANNA KNOW! Take a look at the trailer to see what I mean.

06. Waiting For Superman

The school education system is something I’m fairly passionate about. Waiting for Superman has been getting a lot of praise over the year and has peaked my interest for a while now. I haven’t watched a good documentary in a while now and I am certainly looking forward to viewing it soon.

05. The Kids Are All Right

For the most part, I ‘d like to see this for the talked about award worthy performances from the cast, but also because it seems to be a really truthful, cute film. The chemistry between all of the cast seems perfect and it looks like Mark Ruffalo nailed his role of aloof slacker.

04. Hatchet 2

The unnecessary controversy over pulling Hatchet 2 out of theaters is a shame. It’s a small cult movie that works off the idea of a silly, over the top slasher. I really enjoyed the first Hatchet, and will definitely be waiting to watch Victory Crowley again in Hatchet 2.

03. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest

The brilliant The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo started off the path that led to The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. And after a somewhat lackluster ending to The Girl Who Played With Fire (the second movie in what is known as the Millennium Trilogy) I couldn’t be more excited for the final installment. I just hope the last film will make this series a trilogy worthwhile.

02. I Love You, Phillip Morris

Initially trailers for Phillip Morris painted the film to be more of a serious romantic gay drama. But I supposed studios finally decided that people would probably accept the film more if they knew it was actually a really funny screwball comedy. The leads look great here, especially Jim Carey and I can’t wait to check it out. I hope it’s just as funny as Nick described in his recent review of the flick.

01. Howl

Howl is one movie I’m not sure how I managed to miss this year. It had a small release in a theater here in Baltimore and was excited to seek it out. I guess something got in the way and before I knew it, poof, it was gone. This year I will absolutely make an effort to see the consistently interesting and amazing James Franco, pull off what is sure to be another outstanding performance.
