Well it appears I am a little late, but Happy New Years! It is an exciting time for fellow movie lovers. A time to get pumped about new movies and look back at the year’s past. This week FTS will be giving you some lists of 2010 in review as well as a podcast counting down out top 10 of the year.  To start us off I’d like to go over some movies in 2010 that I wish had done better at the box office. There was a lot of inconsistencies for many studios this year, as many big motion pictures under performed in theaters. Here is my list of the 5 Movies I Wish Did Better at the Box Office (in 2010.)

When it was announced that there was going to be an American remake of the indie favorite ‘Let The Right One In‘, more than a few groaned and took protest on many a message board. But Let Me In is a beautiful and sometimes brilliant film from Cloverfield director Matt Reeves. It was not my favorite of the two, and comparing is a little unfair, but Let Me In boasts some really fantastic talent and gorgeous moments. I don’t think that the original needed a remake, but what you get with Let Me In is some amazing film making and a still very unique movie experience.

So The A-Team is no Citizen Kane, or Inception for that matter. It’s just another 80’s memory turned modern movie. But The A-Team is honestly a lot of big, dumb fun. And much like G.I. Joe, I enjoy The A-Team because I can just kick back and have a few laughs. Plus The A-Team has a charismatic cast (besides Rampage Jackson). I can stop critiquing and just enjoy it with all it’s flaws. I’m sure with DVD sales The A-Team will make back it’s budget but I don’t think it will make enough to garner a sequel.

Alright so Hot Tub Time Machine made a nice profit, but it didn’t make a big box office splash. A lot of people seemed turned off by the goofy premise of HTTM, but it’s funnier than most R rated comedies today and a solid movie on all levels. The reason I wish it performed better at the box office is the simple fact that The Hangover managed to pull in a mind-blowing $227 million! It is in my opinion that HTTM >The Hangover, especially in the “rewatchability” category.

The Losers didn’t lose bad a the box office, but it seemed to fall flat with most critics and movie goers. The promise of sexy Zoe Saldana wasn’t enough to put butts into seats. It seemed that The Losers came out a little to late and no one was buying the comic book adaptation coat tail rider. But The Losers contained some serious action and serious fun. I would love to see a sequel with the bunch of misfits but I doubt the box office gods will send us that anytime soon.

I have to tear up a little talking about this one. First off, Scott Pilgrim is easily one of my favorite movies of the year. It might be a niche movie to some, but it succeeds on so many levels it is an amazing spectacle of AWESOME. I honestly don’t want to continue raving because it would take all day and I really have to pee. It’s one of the biggest box office flops this year which should shame cinema goers. I hope the hit doesn’t negatively effect Edgar Wright or any of the talented actors involved in the film. So please, go buy this on Blu Ray/DVD and then tell all your friends to do the same.
