Directed by Joseph Kosinski, Starring: Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hudlund, and Olivia Wilde, Tron: Legacy (2010)

What’s It About?
The son of a game designer who disappeared is pulled into the virtual world his father has been living in for the past 20 years.

What We Thought:
Lindsay: Tron Legacy is a movie similar to the first Transformers movie in about 1000 ways. Besides the resurrection of 1980’s I REMEMBER THAT pop culture, both movies are over the top feasts for the eyes with not much else offered up plot wise. If you are going into TL hoping for a movie with as much adventure as say, Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, you might be a little disappointed. It’s a movie with very cookie cutter plot enhancements and concepts. But what really works for Tron, just as with the first Transformers, is the visual effects. The Tron world is incredibly piquant and I can honestly go on record that it is the only movie I have seen this year besides Toy Story 3 that worked well in 3D. Other pluses include a suitably enjoyable cast (better than Transformers) and an off the hook soundtrack from Daft Punk. Overall I found that I  really enjoyed the Tron Experience.

Oh and one negative side note, apparently Disney can’t CGI a face to save their lives! The “young” Jeff Bridges looks like Play-doh. It’s ridiculously off-putting/comical.

Really enjoyable movie. It may not be perfect in all aspects but it was worth the watch.
